Matt Burrows

Matt has extensive leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector. Prior to his CEO role at Boab Health, Matt was the CEO of Therapy Focus – one of Australia’s leading professional therapy services for people with disabilities. This is not Matt’s first tenure with Boab Health, Matt was the CEO with Boab from 2006 to 2011 during a transitional period from the Kimberley Division General Practice to Boab Health Services. Matt is highly experienced in delivering health care in remote areas, having worked for nearly two decades in Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Alice Springs, Broome and across all the vast lands in-between. Matt is an MBA qualified Chartered Secretary and has been a regular presenter of the Governance Institute’s not-for-profit certificate course. He currently serves on the Governance Committee of Amnesty International Australia.  Matt is passionate about social justice and is currently a DBA Candidate with the John Curtin Institute for Public Policy at Curtin University, looking at effective governance models that empower people with disabilities as consumers of care services.

 Executive Manager – Mental Health (Acting)

Catherine Kavanagh

Cath joined the Boab Health executive management team in June 2019 following three years with our mental health team. Cath is a qualified social worker with a degree from La Trobe University in Melbourne and has post-graduate qualifications in child and family practice. Cath is also qualified in clinical supervision for mental health professionals. Prior to working with Boab Health, Cath worked in Melbourne as a social worker providing child, youth and family therapeutic services. Cath is passionate about supporting those who help others with their own mental health and wellbeing. Cath is also a qualified yoga instructor and in her spare time, Cath enjoys the beach, yoga, fishing and camping.

Executive Manager – Allied Health

Robyn Powell

Robyn has lived and worked in the Kimberley region for over 15 years. Robyn’s extensive local experience compliments her role as Boab Health’s Allied Health Manger in program delivery and design. Robyn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, as well as further qualifications in chronic disease self-management, nephrology and workplace training and assessment. Prior to working with Boab Health, Robyn worked in a range of roles, specialising in renal nursing and education within government and Aboriginal community-controlled health services. Robyn is passionate about mentoring the allied health team to deliver services with a person-centred approach, focusing on the prevention and self-management of chronic health conditions. Robyn loves to eat ice-cream (in moderation!) and strives to keep healthy by riding her bike to work as often as possible.

Executive Manager – Integrated Team Care Program

Deserae Sibosado

Desarae commenced with Boab in 2014 as a Care Coordinator for the Closing the Gap (CTG) program, now known as the Integrated Team Care (ITC) program. In 2018 Deserae was promoted to ITC Team Leader and Senior Care Coordinator and in 2020 was appointed in the newly created Executive Manager for the ITC program. 

Desarae is a Bardi / Mirining woman having grown up in Broome, One Arm Point and Port Lincoln in South Australia. 

Prior to working with Boab Health Desarae was a nurse in Derby hospital.

Desarae is passionate about working with the ITC team in chronic disease care coordination.  Des’ role is to work collaboratively with clients, GP’s, Aboriginal Medical Services and other service providers to assist with care coordination of Aboriginal clients with chronic disease.

Desarae loves to spend time with her children and Husband, enjoys fishing and being back on Country.
