Our Board of Directors

The Boab Health Services Board of Directors is responsible for the governance and legal entity of Boab Health Services. The Board drives the strategic direction of the organisation and oversees the implementation of the strategic plan through the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Management Team. Our Board are diverse in all aspects of community and professional life and are a source of influence, skills, and knowledge.

Co-Chair

Kristina Koenig

Kristina has been on the Boab Health Services Board of Directors since mid-2018. She is a former strategy consultant, having advised Boards and Executives for organisations from the Federal Government to blue-chip corporates as well as NGOs across a broad range of sectors including health care, private hospitals, and pharmaceuticals. She then worked for the Kimberley Land Council for four years before joining The Nature Conservancy to support Indigenous-led conservation efforts in the Kimberley and beyond. Kristina spends her free time kayaking, bushwalking, and photographing our beautiful region.

Rafael Szumer

Rafael joined the Boab Health board in 2017 while working in the East Kimberley as a lawyer with the Kimberley Community Legal Service. He has previously worked as a restorative justice mediator and a refugee caseworker, and volunteered on the Council of the Law Society of Tasmania, as chairperson of the North West Community Legal Centre and as an independent director with the Bourke Aboriginal Health Service. Passionate about spending time in wild places he is a former member of the North West Tasmania SES Search and Rescue Team. Rafael is currently employed as a doctor in the Northern Territory.

Deputy Chair

Keda Bond

Keda joined the Boab Health board of Directors in mid-2022. As a former executive of WA Country Health Services (WACHS) and Operations Manager of the East Kimberley hospitals, Keda has significant history and knowledge of health services in the Kimberley. Now CEO East Kimberley Chamber Commerce and Industry, Keda continues to be passionate about the people of the Kimberley communities and towns. Keda has a Diploma in Project management, Leadership and Management and is currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management. Keda is proud to be Deputy Chair of Boab Health Services and hopes to bring much needed representation for the East Kimberley.

Board Members

Chris Mitchell

Chris joined the Boab Health Services Board in April 2016. Chris has lived in the Kimberley region for over 40 years and is passionate about innovative regional development opportunities that benefit the Kimberley and Northern Australia. Chris has a strong interest in developing Northern Australia with a special interest in health, education, aquaculture development, agriculture, pastoral diversification, emergency management, and tourism. Chris has now retired from full time employ however is still a serving Broome Shire Councillor for over 30 years and is currently the Broome Shire‘s representative on the Kimberley Zone of Councils, and a WALGA State Councillor. He is a serving Justice of the Peace and a member of the Broome District Health Advisory Council. He is also a Director of HEAPS Foundation and a board member of Native Animal Rescue Inc. Chris has a Diploma of Local Government, an Advanced Diploma in Management, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a full time volunteer in the community and specialises in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.

Priya Mittal

Priya has been on the Boab Health Services Board since May 2022. Previously Priya was a generalist Solicitor with various community legal centres across the Kimberley region and has lived in both Broome and Kununurra. She now works as a Lawyer with the Kimberely Land Council assisting with advice around governance and compliance for various Prescribed Body Corporates (PBCs). Priya has a stark interest in social policy and is looking to commence her Masters in Social Policy, with the aim to one day influence change to outdated legislation and policies requiring reform.

Tracy Raymond

Tracy joined the Boab Health services board in 2023. Tracy brings extensive experience in remote Australia and developing nations, including 14 years experience in service delivery and leadership roles at Boab Health / Kimberley Division of General Practice based in the East Kimberley, and 5 years in the Solomon Islands.  Tracy is a passionate remote health advocate with a Master Public Health (MPH) and is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with 25+ years experience in dietetics, diabetes education, public health, leadership and capacity development across a wide variety of cultural contexts. Tracy is particularly interested in disease prevention and promoting health beyond the health sector especially for adolescents, women and children, along with facilitating effective communication between urban policy makers and rural and remote communities. Tracy is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and brings understanding of governance in the remote context.
