Feltman spotted in Broome

Bob with feltmanFeltman is a teaching tool that can be used by health professionals to help explain what happens in the body of someone who has diabetes.

A very successful group training session showing participants how to use Feltman was delivered by Niomi Vis Crowe, one of our West Kimberley Dietitians on 31st March. The session was well attended by 11 enthusiastic participants including Allied Health and ITC Staff from Boab as well as dietitians from other agencies.

As shown in the photos, Feltman is a life size felt mat in the shape of a human body which shows the systems and organs relating to diabetes.

Feltman can be used with individuals and community groups, as a one-way demonstration or as a two-way interactive workshop. Feltman can be used to explain:

  • What is diabetes?
  • What are the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes?
  • What are some of the complications of diabetes?
  • How can people with diabetes manage the condition?
  • How can people at risk prevent type 2 diabetes?
